Java script is indeed used to program annoying pop-up window advertisements, for example, but is completely harmless, because this script language has no commands to read or write your system's data.

Java Script is used to form the graphics of web sites and to review the validity of your entries in forms, for example.
Enabling Java Script
with Internet Explorer
1. To begin with, click on "Extras" in the browser's menu. A drop-box will appear; click on "Internet options."
2. Select the tab "Security" and check the icon "Internet."
3. If you can't see an adjustable ruler in the bottom part of the window, click on the standard setting. If there is already an adjustable slide, then you needn't do anything.
4. Set the adjustable slide to "high." Scripting (such as Java and ActiveX) are then disabled. To re-enable them, re-open the window and simply move the slide to the "middle" level.

5. If you'd like to only ativate or deactivate scripting, click on "adjust levels" in the "Security" tab. A new window will appear in which you can scroll down to find the rubric "scripting." You may then deactivate or activate all three entries.
