HiEffects - Relief Lacquer
Relief Lacquer
In contrast to the "normal" ultra violet (UV) lacquers, relief lacquer is primarily experienced via its texture.
Relief lacquer (also known as structured lacquer, 3D varnish, contoured varnish, rain drop or drip varnish, or braille coating) can be differentiated from the other "normal" UV lacquers based upon the raised, easily felt varnish thickness upon application of the relief lacquer.
Relief lacquers are available in a variety of thickness as matt or gloss coatings.
In the past, many printed items such as coupons or brochures were embossed and mistakenly thought to have a contoured, relief effect similar to that of relief lacquer. There's no imitating the uniquer feel of relief lacquer, however!
In contrast to embossing, relief lacquers and varnishes offer the following advantages:
* no damages to the surface color or the embossed surface
* combined sensual effect with gloss or exclusive matt lacquer
effects which are actually affordable
* a smooth, clean surface on the back side
* additional use or finishings such as glitter lacquer or color
particles are possible
* no further costs for the embossing equipment
* more precision and exactness with relief lacquer
For thinner materials such as memo pads, letter paper, stationery, or applications, relief lacquer offers a higher quality for your product which you can feel.
